Breast aesthetics is a surgery that has seen an increase in recent years and becomes very important when necessary. It is a procedure that can achieve remarkable results for patients who are dissatisfied with their breasts. Depending on the patient’s needs, operations such as breast augmentation, breast reduction, and breast lift are performed.
Breast augmentation is the most commonly preferred procedure within breast aesthetics. So, in which cases is a breast augmentation performed? It is done for those whose breasts are aesthetically small, for breast shrinkage after childbirth, for breast shrinkage due to weight loss, for underdeveloped breasts, and for breasts that are of different sizes. In this procedure, an evaluation is made according to the patient’s chest width, height, and the desired size. The operation takes approximately 1 hour, and different silicone implants are used depending on the specific situation. After the operation, the patient should wear a sports bra for 2 months.
Breast reduction surgery is performed in cases such as:
– Pain in the neck, back, or shoulders
– Hunchback due to poor posture
– Difficulty breathing
– Shoulder drooping due to bra straps
– Rashes or sores under the breasts
– Limited mobility in daily life
– Nipples positioned below the breast line without a bra
After the operation, the patient may have limited use of their arms initially, but this improves over time. Bruising may appear on the nipples. The patient can return to normal life after a few weeks, but should avoid heavy work for 3 months and wear a sports bra for 2 months.
Breast lift is the second most preferred procedure in breast aesthetics. Changes in hormones, pregnancy, breastfeeding, and weight fluctuations can cause sagging in the breasts. Additionally, gravity contributes to sagging. Psychologically and aesthetically, this operation can help improve a person’s self-confidence. Those experiencing these issues can opt for a breast lift. The surgery lasts approximately 2 hours, during which excess skin is removed. After the operation, the patient should regularly massage the breasts. Stitches are typically removed within 7 to 12 days.
