What does a patient experience after eyelid surgery?

Eyelid surgeries are suitable for both women and men and are aimed at quickly correcting deformities and resolving related issues.

As a result of this operation, individuals feel much more comfortable in social life. Additionally, eyelid surgeries can improve vision. When eye problems are properly addressed, the procedure not only helps the person look younger but also rejuvenates their natural appearance, allowing them to regain their original field of vision.

Before the Surgery:

  • Tests and health check-ups are performed.
  • Any medications the patient is taking are adjusted.
  • Medications that may cause bleeding are discontinued.

After the Surgery:

  • Anesthesia is administered, and a sedative is given intravenously.
  • Incisions are made in the area where the surgery will be performed.
  • Once the excess fat and skin are removed, the incisions are closed.

There are some risks and potential complications after the surgery. However, if you choose an experienced specialist, these risks can be minimized. Some patients may experience vision disturbances, fluid accumulation, or blood clots. Dryness in the eyes can also occur. In some cases, scars may develop.

Swelling due to anesthesia will appear after the surgery, but this will completely subside within 7–10 days. Initially, the swelling may reflect on your face and make you think the operation did not go well, but this is normal. The swelling indicates that your incisions are beginning to heal.

  • From the 5th day, you can drive. After driving, eye ointments should be applied.
  • From the 2nd day, you can wash your hair while leaning backward.
  • Bathing is allowed from the 4th or 5th day.
  • Eyes should be protected from sunlight or intense artificial light. Sunglasses are effective for this.
  • Contact lens use can resume after 1 week.
  • Avoid applying makeup or using cosmetic cleansers during this period.
  • Swimming in the sea or pool should be avoided.

The wounds will fully heal after 4 weeks. By taking photographs, you can clearly see the difference between your original appearance and your new face. If the procedure is performed by a professional surgeon, the operation will be virtually undetectable.
